#7- March has been busy/ Ce mois-ci a été bien occupé
I am a bit late this month due to several factors:
I finished my new "Ideal Neighborhood" art quilt as well as my mini quilt for the SAQA spotlight auction.
I also finished my 2nd bridge and I mailed it to Germany for the exhibit in Meiningen.
Our artist group "20 perspectives" got two exhibitions for "Bridges"
I started to prepare the exhibition for the "Amour du fil" show in Nantes at the end of April.
I have accepted to be the representative of the international quilting association SAQA for the Europe and Middle East region.
Un peu en retard ce mois-ci, c’est dû à plusieurs facteurs:
J’ai terminé mon nouveau tableau textile “Voisinage idéal” ainsi qu’un petit format pour la vente aux enchères de SAQA
J’ai également terminé mon 2e pont et je l’ai posté pour l’Allemagne
Notre groupe d’artistes “20 perspectives” a obtenu deux expositions pour “Bridges”
J’ai commencé à préparer l’exposition pour le salon “amour du fil” à Nantes fin avril.
J’ai accepté de diriger la représentation de l’association internationale de l’art quilting SAQA pour la région Europe et Moyen Orient.
My ideal neighborhood, 24” x 24”
I've been experimenting a lot with applications to edit photos or draw on the iPad. I have sent some of my work to Spoonflower, a fabric printing company, and I am quite happy with the results. I've already completed one textile painting with this method, and I have several more in the works. I think this will be a new series...but I'm still trying to figure out what title I will give it.

J’ai beaucoup expérimenté les applications pour modifier des photos ou dessiner sur l’Ipad. J’ai envoyé certaines de mes réalisations à Spoonflower, une entreprise d’impression sur tissu, et je suis assez contente des résultats. J’ai déjà terminé un tableau avec cette méthode, et j’en ai plusieurs autres en projet. Je pense que ce sera une nouvelle série…je cherche encore le titre qui les réunira sous un même vocable.

Ukrainian street, 8” x 6”
A small format to be auctioned for the benefit of SAQA, made thinking of a positive outcome of the terrible events going on.

Ce petit format a été créé pour être mis aux enchères par SAQA. Je l’ai fait en imaginant une issue favorable au conflit dévastateur qui se déroule sous nos yeux.
Bridges of life, 24” x 16”
I also finished the 2nd bridge, started in February, for the "Bridges" theme of our "20 Perspectives" group. For the first time I used a fabric other than cotton, organza, to allow a transparency of the background, which I felt was necessary.
These "Bridges” were accepted for two exhibitions in addition to the one already planned in Germany; one at the BIAT in Villefranche sur Saône, France in June, the other for a one-year touring trip through the USA. "20 Perspectives'' will soon have a large audience.
Les ponts de la vie, 60 x 40 cm
J’ai également terminé le 2ème pont, commencé en février, pour le thème “Bridges” de notre groupe “20 Perspectives”. J’ai pour la première fois utilisé un tissu autre que le coton, l’organza, pour permettre une transparence du fond, qui me semblait nécessaire.
Ces “Ponts” ont été acceptés pour deux expositions en plus de celle déjà prévue en Allemagne; une à la BIAT à Villefranche sur Saône en juin, l’autre pour un voyage itinérant d’une année à travers les USA. “20 Perspectives” aura donc très vite un large public.

The porthole, 16” x 16”
At the same time, I have advanced the finishing of my small textile paintings from the series "Chacun sa vie" for the exhibition "L'amour du fil". They will be finished soon, but the frames still need to be mounted.
I wanted to associate each of them with a piece of writing, which would give voice to the person looking out the window, the narrator in a way. My sister has offered to write them, and I am delighted to be able to present them at the L'amour du fil exhibition in April.

Parallèlement, j’ai avancé les finitions de mes petits tableaux de la série “Chacun sa vie” pour l’exposition “L’amour du fil”. Ils seront bientôt terminés, mais il faut encore monter les châssis.
Je voulais associer chacun d’eux à un écrit, qui donnerait la parole à celui ou celle qui regarde par la fenêtre, le narrateur ou la narratrice en quelque sorte. Ma soeur a proposé de les écrire, et je suis ravie de pouvoir les présenter à l’exposition de L’amour du fil en avril.

But why take a nap? It's so nice outside, and then over there, what's going on? A party! Multicolored balloons are flying in the blue sky! Daddy won't want to, but Mummy... well Mummy always gives in, doesn't she? Just cross the big wheat field, run up the hill and see the joyful spectacle of children releasing balloons, pipers and colorful drums. And then there will be cute crunchy candy apples, marshmallow streamers, piles of cotton candy... Quick, quick, let's go Mummy!

Mais pourquoi faire la sieste ? Il fait si beau dehors, et puis là-bas, que se passe-t-il ? Une fête ! Des ballons multicolores s’échappent dans le bleu du ciel ! Papa ne voudra pas, mais maman… eh bien maman s’attendrit toujours, n’est-ce pas ? Il suffirait de traverser le grand champ de blé, de gravir la colline en courant et de découvrir le joyeux spectacle du lâcher de ballons par les enfants, des joueurs de pipeau et des tambours multicolores. Et puis il y aura de jolies pommes d’amour croquantes, des serpentins de guimauve, des tas de barbe à papa… Vite, vite, allons-y Maman !
I have been asked to take on the (volunteer) position of European representative for SAQA, the international quilting association. I followed an online training course, and I will have to manage the more than 300 members of the Europe and Middle East region for 2 years. It is a heavy administrative and animation work, but I will make sure I keep enough time to continue creating.
On m’a demandé de prendre le poste (bénévole) de représentante de la délégation européenne de SAQA, l’association internationale de l’art quilting. J’ai suivi une formation en ligne, et je devrai pendant 2 ans gérer les quelque 300 membres de la région Europe et Moyen Orient. C’est un lourd travail administratif et d’animation, mais je me garderai suffisamment de temps pour continuer à créer.
I kept the icing on the cake for the end: my first 2 cathedrals have been selected for 2 different exhibitions that will tour the USA, one of which will be shown at the Houston international quiltfest (for the non-specialists, it is the Mecca of textile artists)
J’ai gardé la cerise sur le gâteau pour la fin: mes 2 premières cathédrales ont été sélectionnées pour 2 expositions différentes qui tourneront aux USA, dont l’une est l’exposition internationale de Houston (pour les non spécialistes, c’est La Mecque des artistes textiles)
