I am French and live in the city of Nantes in Brittany, the most western tip of Europe. I taught languages in several European countries and am now retired. When I was younger, I used to crochet a lot, or embroider in cross-stitch. But I did not know anything about art quilt until 5 years ago .

In 2015 I walked across France on long-hiking trails from west to east - 700  miles from Nantes to Basel, the Swiss border and at some point was hosted by a woman who made those wonderful, beautiful patchwork bedspreads. It fascinated me so much that after going back home, I started looking for classes in order to learn. After a couple of bedquilts, I knew that I was not interested in traditional patchwork, as beautiful as it may be, but in the creative process, not the implementing of a pattern. 

 That’s when I discovered art quilt. This discovery quickly developed into a total passion, and my life is now devoted to dyeing my own fabrics, sketching, cutting, sewing, creating, trying on the design wall and quilting. As I learned with some renowned American artists, I work with « no rules, no rulers, no patterns » and I am absolutely delighted with it.

I am a member of SAQA, and currently the rep for Europe and the Middle East. I take part in international art quilt competitions and attend art quilt master classes in the US as often as life allows. Since 2020, several of my textile paintings have been selected for international exhibitions in France and the USA. In 2024, three of my series will be exhibited in Nantes, France and tin he USA.

Professeur de langue jusqu’à ma retraite en 2015, j’ai toujours créé des objets avec mes mains: broderie, cartonnage, crochet. Au cours d’une traversée de la France à pied d’ouest en est (de Nantes à Bâle en Suisse) j’ai rencontré une femme qui faisait de merveilleux dessus de lit en patchwork traditionnel. Cette découverte s’est muée en passion pour les tissus et le patchwork contemporain. C’est un art à part entière très développé aux USA et dans les pays anglo-saxons en général, avec de nombreuses expositions et même des musées spécialement conçus pour cela. 

J'’ai d’abord suivi des modèles traditionnels puis très vite j’ai pris mes distances et me suis consacrée à la création de tableaux textiles : en anglais, art quilt. N’ayant aucune formation artistique de base je me suis d’abord formée essentiellement avec des livres et sur internet. Puis avec des « master class » aux USA et en Allemagne où j’ai appris avec Heide Stoll Weber à teindre les tissus. Plusieurs de de mes tableaux ont été sélectionnés depuis 2020 pour des expositions internationales en France et aux USA. En 2024, trois de mes séries sont exposées à Nantes et aux USA.
