Quarrel

They love each other and tear each other apart. Sometimes there is a lull, a period of relative calm, of complicity, of exchanges of tender gestures, and then it all starts again. Chaos reigns in the house. The girls lock themselves in their rooms, fleeing the tense and gloomy atmosphere; the dog lays his ears back and hides under the table to be forgotten. The father seems relaxed and tries to keep up appearances by following his daily routine: work, running, home. The mother is in tears, her eyes red and her gaze evasive. The girls have to comfort her and try to distract her, knowing full well that it will be short-lived. Through the discordant notes of a keyboard that continues to play, impassively ignoring the crisis unfolding, they hear bitter arguments coming from their parents' bedroom, but the words clash and fly away, sometimes high-pitched, sometimes low, leaving only a veil of sadness, bitterness, and resentment on the floor. Yet their love is deep, and they have chosen each other for life.

Dispute

Ils s’aiment et se déchirent. Parfois s’installe une accalmie, une période de sérénité relative, de complicité, d’échanges de gestes de tendresse, puis tout recommence. Chaos dans la maison. Les filles s’enferment dans leurs chambres, fuyant une atmosphère tendue et sombre ; le chien couche ses oreilles et se tapit sous la table pour se faire oublier. Le père semble détendu et tente de donner le change en suivant sa routine quotidienne, travail, course à pied, maison. La mère est éplorée, elle a les yeux rouges et le regard fuyant. Les filles doivent la consoler et tentent de la distraire, sachant bien que cela sera éphémère. A travers les notes disgracieuses d‘un clavier qui continue de jouer, ignorant impassiblement la crise en cours, elles entendent d’âpres discussions engagées dans la chambre des parents, mais les paroles s’entrechoquent et s’envolent, tantôt aigues tantôt basses, ne laissant au sol qu’un voile de tristesse, d’amertume et de ressentiment. Pourtant, leur amour est profond et ils se sont choisis pour une vie.
