#19-Recycling UFOs/ Reprise d’anciens projets

This has been a very busy month of April and the month of May is well underway. But I wanted to take stock of the situation before leaving for the masterclasses in Ohio in early June.

Un mois d’avril très occupé et un mois de mai bien entamé. Mais je tenais à faire le point avant de partir aux USA pour les masterclass organisés dans l’Ohio début juin.

First of all, I have resumed my series "Each his own view" started in 2021 but which I had not finished. I have therefore resumed a dozen small square paintings (a format that I do not like and that I avoid as soon as I can), which I will mount on 14” x 14” stretched canvases. I consider them as exercises in color and composition.

Tout d'abord, j'ai repris ma série "Chacun sa vie, chacun sa vue" commencée en 2021 mais que je n'avais pas terminée. J'ai donc repris une dizaine de petits tableaux de format carrés (un format que je n'aime pas et que j'évite dès que je peux), que je vais monter sur des chassis de 36 x 36 cm. Je les considère comme des exercices de couleur et de composition.

I also picked up a little painting called "I'm not in the mood" or “I am feeling blue” that I started at the beginning of the lockdown in March 2020. I had stuffed it in the back of a drawer because I was no longer in the mood. I'm still not in the mood, but I wanted to finish it. On the left is the 2020 version, on the right is today's version.

J'ai également repris un petit tableau intitulé "Je n'ai pas le moral", commencé au début du confinement en mars 2020. Je l'avais fourré au fond d'un tiroir car je n'étais plus dans l'ambiance. Je n'y suis toujours pas, mais j'ai voulu le terminer. A gauche la version de 2020, à droite celle d'aujourd'hui.

We were able to admire and appreciate the exhibition "L'orient express", shown as part of "L'amour du fil" in Nantes late April. This is the SAQA Europe project that we have set up last year, and which has already been invited to several exhibitions, in Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Great Britain. There is a question of sending it to Denmark and maybe to one of the Gulf countries. We have about sixty very diverse panels, created by artists from our continent.
Nous avons pu admirer et apprécier l'exposition "L'orient express", montrée dans le cadre de "L'amour du fil" à Nantes fin avril. C'est le projet SAQA Europe que nous avons monté l'an dernier, et qui a déjà été invité à plusieurs expositions, en Allemagne, en Hongrie, aux Pays Bas, En France, en Belgique et en Grande Bretagne. Il est question de l'envoyer au Danemark et peut être dans un des pays du Golfe. Nous avons une soixantaine de panneaux très divers, créés par des artistes de notre continent.

I had created a painting for the May theme "yellow monochrome" of our textile artists group "20 perspectives". I had thought of participating with my cathedral "Notre Dame de lumière" of which I showed details in my March post (left). But finally, I decided to keep it for the solo exhibition "Cathedrals" which was proposed to me for spring 2024 in Nantes. So I had to make a new painting on this theme. And here it is finished (right).

J'avais créé un tableau pour le thème de mai "monochrome jaune" de notre groupe d'artistes textiles "20 perspectives". J'avais pensé y participer avec ma cathédrale "Notre Dame de lumière" dont j'ai montré des détails dans mon billet de Mars (à gauche). Mais finalement, j'ai décidé de la garder pour l'exposition solo "Cathédrales" qui m'a été proposée pour le printemps 2024 à Nantes. Alors j'ai dû refaire un tableau sur ce thème. Et le voici terminé (à droite).

**Work in progress for the “Heritage and Diversity” SAQA 2024 regional project**

I have started to work on a 30 x 70 cm (imposed size) panel which will be part of our next SAQA European project and which will be shown at the SAQA congress in April 2024. The theme is "Heritage and Diversity", and all SAQA Europe and Middle East members will be able to participate, each with their own language, history and culture. We have members from 22 countries and therefore 22 languages!
When I thought about the theme in terms of my French culture, I knew immediately that cathedrals were a big part of it, as well as the revolution of 1789. So I created a kind of colored stained glass window, and I will add the words "liberté, égalité, fraternité". I finished the top, still need to add the 3 words and quilt the panel.
J'ai commencé à travailler sur un panneau de 30 x 70 cm (dimension imposée) qui fera partie de notre prochain projet européen qui sera montré au congrès de SAQA en avril 2024. Le thème est "Héritage et diversité", et tous les membres de SAQA Europe et Moyen Orient pourront y participer, chacun avec sa langue, son histoire et sa culture. Nous comptons des membres de 22 pays et donc 22 langues!
Lorsque j'ai pensé au thème en fonction de ma culture française, j'ai su immédiatement que les cathédrales en étaient une part non négligeable, ainsi que la révolution de 1789. J'ai donc créé une sorte de vitrail coloré, et j'y ajouterai les mots "liberté, égalité, fraternité". J'ai fini le dessus, il faut encore ajouter les 3 mots et quilter le panneau.

I am nearly ready for my trip to the USA to participate in the art masterclass in Ohio in June. The last week of May, I will be teaching two classes in Delaware at a local painting school: one on the "log cabin" principle (1st line), the other on Gelliplate prints (2nd line). I devoted a couple of days practicing and testing.

Je suis presque prête pour mon voyage aux Etats-Unis afin de participer à la masterclass d'art dans l'Ohio en juin. La dernière semaine de mai, je donnerai deux cours dans le Delaware à une école de peinture locale : l'un sur les impressions Gelliplate (1ère ligne), l'autre sur le principe du "logcabin" (2ème ligne) . J'ai consacré quelques jours à la pratique et aux essais.
